Today is 10/10/10, which, according to the Eames office, is Powers of 10 day. Well why not? I first saw the film at 14 in a Physics class. I remember very little from the otherwise incredibly dull age of 14, so the fact that I can still remember the film and the feelings it invoked (I found the close up of the man’s skin slightly repulsive, I have no idea why) is testament to its success. In an age where a bent plywood Eames Lounge Chair is $1229, Powers of 10 is a nice example of where Charles and Ray’s democratic principles stuck.
As you probably already know, 10/10/10 is also apparently 42 in binary (the answer to the big question), and has seemingly led to a brief crop of Google Ads offering one “Special 10/10/10 spells cast for you…”
